What is BC Newcomer Association?

We are a Canadian registered charity that operates free year-round educational programming for recently arrived newcomer refugee children. We provide work and volunteer opportunities to Canadian youth, former refugees, and university students. Who or what is a refugee?

A refugee is someone who is forced to leave their country because of persecution, war, or violence. You can learn more about refugees in Canada here.


How can I support BC Newcomer Association?

There are many ways you can help us out! You can join our team by volunteering or working with us. We love meeting passionate individuals who enjoy working with children and are keen on gaining hands-on experience with running our programs. Lastly, your donations are greatly appreciated for helping us continue to run our programs for newcomer children.


What does my money go towards?

81% of our funds go directly into running our our programs, our Summer Camps, Newcomer to Notes, and Welcome to Canada. The remaining funds are utilized to ensure our non-profit organization can operate smoothly and declare legal documentation to the Federal Government as a Canadian Registered Charity. Will I get a tax receipt for my donations?

Yes, you will be emailed a tax receipt after confirming your donation. The donation is tax deductible and eligible for claiming your charitable tax credits when you file your income tax return.


How do I donate on behalf of my organization?

Yes, you can select to donate as an individual or organization when you fill out the second part of our donation form.


Can I choose where my money goes?

Yes, you can pick a specific program or where it is needed most in the first part of our donation form. No matter what you pick, your donation contributes to helping us provide programming to newcomer and refugee families!


Can I make a recurring monthly donation?

Of course! Recurring donations are much appreciated as we receive less funding through certain months of the year. It ensures we can run our programming year-round for newcomer refugee children. Select “monthly” as the donation frequency in the first part of our donation form. You can choose to receive a tax receipt monthly or an annual accumulative receipt at the end of the year.
